4 held for snatching AK47 from RPF personnel in Ujjain

INDORE: Police on Wednesday arrested four members of a gang of robbers for attacking and snatching AK-47 rifles from two railway protection force personnel in Ujjain district.The robbers had managed to free their gang member after snatching the weapon and ammunition from a two-member patrolling team in early hours of December 6. Mounting pressure had forced the accused to abandon the rifle and cartridges on the railway tracks.“The RPF personnel were patrolling the area after complaints of electricity wire thefts when they were attacked. The personnel were also beaten up by robbers and had to be rushed to hospital for treatment.After the incident, the police had launched a joint operation with RPF and government railway police in Ujjain and Dhar districts to trace the attackers. On their tip-off, Galia alias Ashok Mongia and Umesh Bherulal were arrested near Barnagar railway station The police have recovered another AK-47 rifle and 5 cartridges.Police claimed that five members of the gang are yet to be arrested..
