Proposed pharma cluster to have lab logistics hub

Indore has over 120 small scale medicines manufacturing units engaged in production of sanitizers, ointments, syrups and injectable. Indore: Small scale drug manufacturers will soon have an advanced testing lab, skill development centre and logistics hub in the region to boost productivity and efficiency of regional players.The proposed pharma cluster is being developed by department of pharmaceuticals under ministry of chemical and fertilizers that will contribute to 70 per cent of the expenses while rest will be shared by industries. Industry members said the facility will help in expanding business and upgrading themselves with advanced technology, which is at present not possible at own cost. A detailed report has to be submitted by March 10 to government.”The initial estimated cost of the project is Rs25 crore.The proposed pharmaceutical cluster aims to aid micro, small and medium pharmaceutical enterprises that struggle to expand due to financial constraints and lack of skilled manpower.MP Small Scale Drug Manufacturers Association secretary Amit Chawla said, “Being a hub for pharmaceutical units, a cluster is a much awaited decision. Industry will be highly benefitted because there is no common testing facility.”The cluster is being designed to address needs of Indore and Pithampur based small scale units.According to MP Small Scale Drug Manufacturers Association, the cluster will come on 2 acre in between Sanwer road and Polo Ground on the land offered by district industry centres (DIC)..
