627 EVMs found faulty in first level checking

Indore: After first level checking , the district election office has found 627 electronic voting machines (EVMs) and several numbers of VVPATs faulty and returned them to Bengaluru for replacement. “We have sent two consignments of total 627 EVMs-ballot and control units- along with VVPATs since they are under guarantee period. They were damaged from outside,” master trainer at district election office RK Pandey said.He said in polls , 2881 main and 23 assistant polling booths will be erected to cover 26 lakh voters of Indore district. These EVMs were kept in reserve, while some of them were used in mock poll during 2018 assembly election.The office sent 283 units on February 12 and remaining 344 units on March 23.
