KANPUR: Faced with the menace of stray cattle in the city, DM Vijay Vishwas Pant has directed the officials to book the cattle owners abandoning or leaving their cattle unattended on roads under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of IPC . They would also be held responsible for feeding the animals.Pant also asked private cow-shed owners to adopt stray cattle so that they could not damage crops. He also asked the police to take action against those who deliberate create nuisance in the name of cattle.Pant said that if owners will leave their cattle unattended on roads, they would be held responsible in case of an accident involving such cattle.He also asked the sub-divisional magistrates to ask the cattle owners in rural areas to keep their animal in their house and create awareness on the issue. He also appealed to the voluntary organizations to come forward and donate funds for stray animals.KMC officials in the meeting informed the DM that the cattle catching squad had caught as many as 165 stray cattle from the roads of the city of which around 41 were released after their paid Rs 1,000 fine for each animal.KMC veterinarian Dr A K Singh said that stray animals caught loitering on roads were been sent to Darshanpurwa and Jajmau pin-folds..
