KANNUR: Police have arrested eight more people, including the victim’s father and a local leader of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), from different parts of the district in connection with the gang-rape and sexual abuse of a 16-year-old girl and also a related case.Five people were arrested for the gang-rape in a lodge in Parassinikkadavu here, including the manager of the lodge, on Wednesday, while eight were arrested on Thursday, thus taking the total number of arrests to 13.According to Thaliparamba police, they arrested two people under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for sexually abusing the girl in some other locality other than the lodge where she was gang-raped by four people.In Valappattanam, three people including a local leader of the DYFI, were arrested, while Pazhayangadi police have arrested three people, including one person who was already arrested in the gang-rape case by Thaliparamba police last day.Meanwhile, Women’s Cell in Kannur recorded the arrest of a teenager on the charge of sexually abusing another minor girl, who is the school mate and friend of the first victim, said police..
