Corporation dilly-dallies on licence cancellation of Paragon Towers

KOCHI: City corporation authorities are dilly-dallying on cancelling the dangerous and offensive (D&O) licence and occupancy certificate (OC) of Paragon Towers , the footwear godown at Ernakulam South that caught fire last month.Though the town planning committee of the corporation had recommended cancellation of D&O licence and OC of the godown, corporation mayor Soumini Jain and the secretary didn’t include it in the agenda of the council meeting held on Monday.At the previous council meeting held on February 26, Jain asked superintendent engineer (SE) C M Sulaiman to conduct a structural stability test on the building.On Monday’s council meeting, Sulaiman said that the local body does not have structural engineers and so their services would have to be outsourced..
