9000 posters removed

Kolhapur: Within 24 hours of the model code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections coming into effect, the district election office, jointly with the municipal corporation, has removed around 9,000 political posters, digital hoardings, banners, wall writings, and others.Satish Dhumal, deputy district election officer, said 6,447 posters and banners were from public properties, while around 2,500 were from private properties.Pandit Powar from the anti-encroachment department of the KMC said the action against such hoardings and banners will continue on Tuesday.Meanwhile, district returning officer Daulat Desai has issued prohibitory orders for the elections under section 143 of the CrPC .The voting has been scheduled for Kolhapur and Hatkanagale seats on April 23..
