.

Harshavardhan Neotia got into the real estate business by chance and became a name to reckon with in the sector as soon as he completed his very first project.

However, his journey has all the ups and down with some family drama and immense pressure to make the right choice.

As the July 19 born man belongs to a big title like `Ambuja Cement`, his family wanted him to take forward the business but as fate has it, rather than enjoying the already established successful business he took the different path.

Just out of college, Harsh got a chance to work on a housing project, on a property which was owned by a family friend.

The project bring along a huge success in the Harsh and the owner but the real break for Harsh came in 1993, when the government of West Bengal invited public private partnership for a housing project.

As a common young man aspire to start something on his own, Neotia refused to get involved in the family business but was left with no option after the family acquired Modi Cement, a loss-ridden company that was away from Kolkata.

Neotia was made managing director (MD) of the company which was rechristened Ambuja Eastern.

He turned the loss-making company into a profitable one.

Amid this, the real estate business that he had begun in parallel began to suffer.

All that’s now in the past.
