Summary:

Representatives of a cluster of 185 villages have been shocked and saddened by the untimely death of 45-year-old BJP MLA from Noorpur, Lokendra Singh Chauhan. Manmohan Dudpuri, former pradhan of Tarla Dhaak village, said, “His demise is a great setback to our movement as we saw a ray of hope in Lokender Chauhan. However, after his death, we don’t know if another leader will take interest in the issues faced by us.” After Uttarakhand was carved out of UP, a majority of these villages, located on the border, wanted to be made part of the hill state as their home state hadn’t done anything to develop their areas. Taking note of their long-standing demand, chief minister Yogi Adityanath had last week asked Chauhan to prepare a detailed report on their issues. On Monday, Chauhan visited several villages including Motadhak, Chatruwala, Tarla Dhaak and Kaudiya and interacted with the local residents..
