Summary:

Meerut: The Uttar Pradesh government has renewed its efforts to ensure that all the primary school students in the state have Aadhaar cards made on their names, and has set a deadline of June 30 for it. After the government’s move last year, the opposition had said that the decision should not be forced on the students. Interestingly, the government had set the same deadline, June 30, last year to complete the process.“All the basic shiksha adhikaris are instructed to ensure Aadhaar enrollment of all the students studying in UP government, aided and private recognized schools from Class I to Class VIII.“Earlier, instructions were given to complete Aadhaar enrollment by February 15, 2018. The directions had come three months after the Union human resource development ministry made the cards mandatory for midday meals. After drawing severe flak from all the quarters, the government was forced to withdraw the decision. In a fresh circular, issued by UP’s additional education director (basic), all the basic shiksha adhikaris (BSAs) have been asked to ensure 100% compliance of the order before the last date.Last year, in a controversial move, the UP government had said that those kids who do not have Aadhaar cards will not get midday meals..
