UP govt schools to observe Communicable Diseases Prevention Drive in February

Meerut: The government schools in Uttar Pradesh are set to observe Communicable Diseases Prevention Drive in February this year.As part of the initiative, students will be taught about how to avoid contracting any infection from communicable diseases. Also, activities carried out the entire month should be documented and sent to the state education department for assessment purpose.” Every day, the students should be educated about health and environment-related messages during the morning assembly. The key highlights will be to maintain cleanliness.An assessment of the month will be done by the state authorities depending on the activities carried out in the schools — the details of which have to be sent to the state level.An order issued by UP joint education director (basic) Lalita Pradeep reads, “Each school should identify a teacher who will impart knowledge about health education to the students. They should be told about the cons of open defecation and awareness of using toilets should be spread.”She also instructed that a special session on the prevention of spread of communicable diseases should be held for the school students.Also, if a student remains absent for more than two days, it should be checked if the child has fallen ill or is suffering from some disease.Pradeep added, “The details of the teacher identified for the purpose of imparting health education should be sent by each district to its chief medical officer in soft copy..
