Central Railways shifts OHE cables to take off weight from age-old ROBs

Mumbai | Thursday | 16th August, 2018

Summary:

In a measure to reduce weight on the old road over bridges (ROBs) passing above rail lines, the railways has begun shifting the overhead equipment (OHE) cables. At the time of power upgrade from 1500 to 25000 volt, many of these OHE cables were further embedded into the ROB. The OHE cables power the trains. The OHE cables and the paraphernalia weigh at least 500 kg. On August 2, DNA reported about it in the story 'Railway officials losing sleep over OHE cables'..
