Maratha, Dhangar reservations rock council

Nagpur: The contentious issue of Maratha and Dhangar reservations rocked the Maharashtra council on Wednesday and led to its adjournment twice after the opposition members created ruckus, demanding immediate answers from the BJP-led government. He, however, added that the government had started Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj scholarship scheme for Maratha community students.When he said that only BJP could grant reservations, opposition members trooped into the well, raising antigovernment slogans and forced adjournment of the house. There’s a lot of resentment among the community members. They started sloganeering and forced chairman Ramraje Nimbalkar to adjourn the house.In the afternoon, leader of opposition (LOP) Dhananjay Munde raised the issue of Maratha reservations while demanding a detailed discussion under Rule 289.
