With 4 deaths in last 3 days, Scrub Typhus claims 12 lives in Nagpur

NAGPUR: After Dengue, now Scrub Typhus is haunting the citizens of Nagpur. He also instructed the authorities to take adequate steps to curb the disease. Four deaths in last three days have risen the death toll to 12.Scrub Typhus is a grass rat-borne disease and the number of its patients is increasing rapidly in the city. Nearly 44 people have been detected with Scrub Typhus, whereas at least 60 people have shown its symptoms.Most of the Scrub typhus patients in the city are being treated in Government Medical College Hospital.Even though a dozen patients have died in a fortnight, Nagpur MNC has not taken any serious steps to curb the disease yet.In absence of any help from MNC, Government Medical College authorities are facing difficulties in treating the Scrub Typhus patients.State health minister Deepak Sawant visited the GMC hospital last week..
