NGOs to be included in Prabhag Samitis

"Total 12 socially active citizens will be appointed in the six divisional committees. Accordingly, two distinguished citizens with a record of social service will be appointed in each of the six wards of the city.Divisional officers have been directed to initiate process towards nominating active citizens on prabhag samitis. Under Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporations Act, it is the duty of the civic administration to ensure that real citizen activists are there on board of the ward panels.The Bharatiya Janata Party BJP ) governed NMC will now have these citizens in the prabhag samitis. NASHIK: Ward committee panels (prabhag samitis) of Nashik Municipal Corporation NMC ) will now have citizens of repute who have been involved in social work, are part of non-governmental organisations and other social organisations.The provision for including social workers/NGOs is already present in the municipal corporations act but has not been implemented as yet. The proposals will be sent to the respective divisional officers and the names will be announced on September 19," said an NMC official.The provision is made to increase the active participation of citizens for transparent functioning of civic bodies..
