Protests fail to stop Indirapuram sealings, traders seek MLA’s help

Ghaziabad: Amid protests from traders, the Ghaziabad Development Authority continued with its sealing drive in Indirapuram on Saturday.The traders, meanwhile, sought the support of Sahibabad MLA Sunil Sharma after getting no assurance from GDA vice-chairperson Kanchan Verma. “It is in this backdrop I have arranged a meeting with traders, GDA and FedAOA to find a middle path,” said Sharma.FedAOA president Alok Kumar, against whom traders are up in arms, welcomed Sharma’s move. In the past three days, we have sealed 36 such shops and the crackdown will continue,” said Singh.The representatives of vypar mandal, which is spearheading the traders’ protest, met MLA Sunil Sharma and was assured of help. “The shops were found to be encroaching on roads and causing traffic jams. “I have made an effort to find an amicable solution to the problem in such a way that the traders’ grievances are addressed without interfering with court’s order,” said Sharma..
