17 women, 3 minor girls shifted from Muzaffarpur

Those shifted to Madhubani were girls with disabilities.The matter had surfaced after Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai), in its social audit report after conducting a survey of all government stay homes across Bihar, mentioned sexual abuse of minors at Muzaffarpur children home. Following the report, an FIR was lodged on May 31.When asked about the case, the SSP said no one would be spared. “As the survivors were drugged, it can’t be said with surety who were taken out of the children home regularly for sexual abuse,” the SSP said and added that PMCH superintendent had been asked to constitute a three-member medical board to medically examine the girls again.“I have also written to Muzaffarpur zonal IG, DIG (Tirhut range) and district magistrates of Patna and Muzaffarpur to assist the Muzaffarpur police,” she said. PATNA: The Muzaffarpur district administration on Saturday shifted 17 women and three minor girls from a government’s short stay home in the town to Begusarai, Muzaffarpur SSP Harpreet Kaur said on Sunday.She said the short stay home was also run by the same Seva Sankalp Ewam Vikas Samiti of Brajesh Thakur, who is in jail for allegedly raping several minor girls at the children home located on Sahu Road under the Town police station area at Muzaffarpur.“Police will soon record their statements and conduct medical examination to know if they were also raped,” Harpreet said, adding the district administration had initiated inquiry into the functioning of all types of shelter homes in Muzaffarpur.Brajesh, seven women office-bearers of his NGO and a children welfare committee (CWC) member Vineet Kumar Verma are in jail for their alleged involvement in the rape of minors at the children home.Fourteen minors rescued from the children home were shifted to Madhubani while 30 were kept in Patna and Mokama..
