Pimpri Chinchwad: The defence authorities on Monday lodged a police complaint against two persons for illegally slaughtering animals in a hut on Dehu Road.The complaint was lodged after an army patrol spotted around 50 illegal huts on an open plot behind Nigdi crematorium, which falls within the Dehu Road Cantonment Board (DCB) limits.Upon inspection, the patrol team discovered that animals were being slaughtered in one of the huts without proper permissions.The huts were removed during an anti-encroachment drive in the afternoon. The meat found at the spot has been sent to forensic laboratory to ascertain whether or not it belonged to a cow.”Police said the suspects may have brought the animals illegally for slaughtering to the hut.Police have registered the complaint under Sections 447(34) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 5(a), 2(c), 8(b), (c) and 9(a) of the Maharashtra Animal Protection Act..
