Steady rain pushes up stock in 4 dams to halfway mark

Though the city has been allowed to lift 11.5 TMC water per year, the civic administration has been drawing around 15 TMC water, considering the growing population.The four dams collectively have the capacity to store 29.35 TMC of water. The stock in Panshet and Varasgaon was recorded at 65.89% and 36.94%, respectively.Meanwhile, Saturday’s spells of rain in Panshet and Varasgaon’s catchment areas have pushed the season’s rainfall beyond the 1,000mm mark. Since June 1, the catchments of Panshet have recorded 1,005mm of rainfall, while Varasgaon’s catchments have received 1,004mm. They said this was because on Saturday evening, the dam had recorded 81.4% storage.
