Passport verification process now takes 11 days

Pune: The city police are now completing the passport verification process in 11 days, down from the earlier 31 days.City police commissioner K Venkatesham said the special branch (SB), which looks after the verification of the passport applications, is coordinating with the local police stations and other officers involved in the process. “We are, however, not processing applications of the traffic rule offenders,” he said.Earlier, the process to verify the passport application would take 31-36 days. Soft copies of all the applications are sent to the police stations after receiving necessary details from the Regional Passport Office (RPO) and the constables who look after the verification process. .“The average time to complete the process has been brought down to 11 days. We are trying to reduce the time further,” he said.All 30 police stations in the city are virtually connected to the special branch..
