Bhavnagar takes out its 33rd Rath Yatra

Rajkot: Thousands of devotees participated in the 33rd Rath Yatra in Bhavnagar on Saturday.The yatra began from Jagannath Temple in Subhashnagar area of the town. The main puja was performed by erstwhile Maharaja of Bhavnagar state, Vijayrajsinh Gohil, and his son Jaivirsinh Gohil.Three elephants, five horses, four akhadas, 120 trucks, 20 tractors and five jeeps with tableaus of different themes participated in the yatra.The yatra passed through the 18-km long route encompassing Mahila College, Ambavadi, Ghogha Circle, Rupani Circle, Sardarnagar, Shivaji Circle, Gayatrinagar and Bharatnagar.Devotees performed arti before the jawans of para-military force to honour them at Havmor Chowk.Union minister of state for road transport highways Mansukh Mandavia and Gujarat BJP president Jitu Vaghani were present at the event..
