Crackdown on sweet shops ahead of festive week

RMC sources said that the team of health officials raided famous sweet and namkeen shops in Nana Mava, Raiya Road, Panchayat Chowk and Udhyognagar. RMC officials said that the raids would continue for next 2-3 days. The officials also found food items were being stored in unhygienic conditions.Week-long festive season in Saurashtra begins on Saturday ahead of Janmashtami festival. Food samples from the shops were sent to the food testing laboratory. Rajkot: Ahead of Janmashtami festival , the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC)’s health department raided 12 shops making sweets and fried snacks and destroyed 61 kg unhygienic food along with 10 kg reused oil.Notices were issued to all the shopowners and explanation was sought from them..
