Mukul Sangma vacates CM's bungalow

SHILLONG: Six months after demitting office, former Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma has finally vacated the CM's Goodwood bungalow, an official said Monday. "Leader of Opposition, Mukul Sangma, vacated the Goodwood bungalow last week. Mukul had been living there since 2013, soon after he was sworn in as the chief minister for the second consecutive term.Chief minister Conrad K Sangma is yet to move in to the official Goodwood bungalow, the official said. He has shifted to Sherwood bungalow, the official residence of the leader of Opposition," a senior official of the General Administrative Department (GAD) said.Mukul's younger brother Zenith Sangma, who had also been staying in the Goodwood bungalow, had vacated the premises on September 1, the GAD official added.The official also said renovation work is going on at Sherwood bungalow which former chief minister and senior Congress leader DD Lapang had occupied for 18 years.The scenic Goodwood bungalow, built atop a hillock near the Polo Ground, was constructed for over Rs 10 crore..
