Hold more financial literacy camps to check fraud: B K Agarwal

SHIMLA: In view of rising incidences of financial fraud, chief secretary B K Agarwal said more financial literacy camps would be held in the state in coordination with RBI and Securities and Exchange Board of India. It was also informed that RBI participated in Kullu Dusshera and put up a stall there for seven days. It was revealed that the RBI website has received around 2,000 complaints from across the country. Agarwal also suggested earmarking a 10-minute slot for RBI and SEBI personnel to disseminate financial literacy during the Jan Manch, which is held on the first Sunday of every month in each district.He said workshops should be organised for employees retiring shortly and for persons whose land was being acquired for four-laning in the state as they were vulnerable to financial fraud. He was presiding over the state-level coordination committee (SLCC) meeting on Thursday.He said workshops on financial literacy would be held at all three division levels, in which faculty members of RBI and Sebi will sensitize deputy commissioners, superintendents of police, representatives of Legal Service Authority, public prosecutors and other stakeholders.He asked lead district managers to coordinate with DCs to hold camps in rural areas and associate in pre-Jan Manch activities..
