A decade after political tussle ground breaking ceremony for Central University takes place in HP

The two areas where the campuses will come up have been shortlisted keeping the political interests in mind of the sitting BJP MPs. While Jadrangal comes under the Kangra parliamentary constituency, represented by BJP MP Shanta Kumar, Dehra falls in Hamirpur parliamentary seat, represented by BJP MP Anurag Thakur.The university remained a point of dispute between both the parties as when the Congress was in power it wanted to have the campus at Jadrangal in Kangra while BJP was fighting for the campus in Hamirpur parliamentary constituency. Dharamshala: In a bid to gain political one up manship in an election year, the ground breaking ceremony for the Central University took place on Thursday_ a decade after a political tussle between the ruling BJP and Congress.The dispute and the race for taking credit had been such that this university will come up in two campuses_one at Dehra and the other at Jadrangal in Kangra district.“The central government has sanctioned other educational institutes for the state and it includes IITs, and a cluster university for Mandi,” said HRD minister Prakash Javdekar while attending the ground breaking ceremony..
