Theft at foreign exchange firm: Attingal police launch hunt for foreign couple

Thiruvananthapuram: The district police (rural) have launched a manhunt for a foreign couple who seems to be on a theft spree, targeting foreign currency exchange firms.The Attingal police had registered a case and launched the probe after the couple allegedly stole foreign currency worth around Rs 1.75 lakh from a firm at Attingal on Monday.The couple stole the money after approaching the employee at the counter pretending to conduct a transaction of currency exchange and then distracting the staff to take the currency notes from the cash chest behind the counter.The police officials involved in the probe said that after the news of the theft at Attingal came out, proprietors of two more firms accused the same couple to have committed similar thefts in their firms too..

One of the firms was located at Ulloor under Medical College police station limits in the city and the other at Karettu near Vamanapuram under Kilimanoor police station limits in the rural district..
