Students collect plastic bottles

Thiruvananthapuram: As part of promoting green protocol in government and aided-schools in the state, students have started collecting plastic bottles from their school compound and from their homes.The drive that which began on Thursday would conclude on Friday. The association would clear the bottles after paying money to schools.The general education department’s decision to launch such a green drive came following a similar drive carried out by schools at Kaipamangalam in Thrissur district. The bottles collected would be disposed of safely later through a mechanism being arranged by the government.According to director of public instructions, K V Mohankumar, the plastic bottle collection from school compounds and students’ houses is planned as a one-time drive that would help children take a proactive role in environmental-friendly activities and create general awareness in the society against the use of plastic..
