Trichy: The death of a 54-year-old functionary of T T V Dhinakaran-led Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) in Thanjavur on Friday has triggered a controversy. He was referred to Thanjavur Medical College Hospital on July 17. Kumaraselvan and his brother had attacked AIADMK member Balamurugan, 44, of the same village.Police admitted him to a private hospital in Pattukkottai. He died in the hospital on Friday morning.Terming his death unnatural, AMMK functionaries staged a protest on the hospital premises demanding action against Madhukkur police inspector and AIADMK functionaries who allegedly influenced the police to drag the AMMK man into the case.
