TRICHY: The Idol wing CID police have arrested HR&CE additional commissioner (general) N Thirumagal in connection with various cases registered against her by the idol wing police. Idol wing police had stated at the time that they had no intention of arresting her. However, police told the court said that some HR&CE officials including Thirumagal were under scanner for their alleged role in the theft of ancient idols. A case related to the theft of an idol from the Kapaleeswarar temple at Mylapore in Chennai was registered against the officer.The idol theft came to light after a complaint was lodged by Rangarajan Narasimhan of Srirangam with the idol wing, headed by IG AG Ponmanickavel, which registered the case a few months ago.
