38 injured in Suriyur jallikattu

TRICHY: As many as 38 people sustained injuries in a jallikattu event held in Suriyur village near Trichy on Wednesday.Organised on the second day of the Tamil month of Thai, this is the first jallikattu of this season in Trichy district. Thiruverumbur MLA Mahesh Poyyamozhi gave away a gold ring to Mohan who had tamed over six bulls. All the participating bulls were given a token reward apart from a brass lamp.Trichy MP P Kumar presented a motorcycle as prize for the best bull-tamer, Govindan. A total 260 bull-tamers and 506 bulls participated in the event.Out of the total 38 people who were injured, 10 were admitted to hospitals.Rewards ranging from a motorcycles, bicycles, furniture, gold and silver coins were given to successful bull- tamers. The bull-taming event started at 8am and went on till 3pm..
