No solution to drainage woes despite Rs 35lakh expense

VADODARA: The residents of Navapura area of the city have raised the issue of drainage lines in the area not functioning despite an expense of Rs 35lakh on them.The VMC had recently laid the new drainage lines in the Marathi Mohalla in Navapura. The new lines had replaced the old ones that were laid during the rule of the Gaekwads in the city, said local corporator Balasaheb Surve Surve pointed out that the work on the drainage lines was incomplete and there were frequent complaints of drainage overflow in the area. “The work has been going on since a year-and-a-half now,” he said. Surve pointed out that the issue had been raised repeatedly with the drainage department of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) but to no avail.Surve added that a VMC official had assured that the work will be completed in 15 to 20 days..
