VARANASI: Some armed miscreants shot at a diamond trader and looted ornaments worth Rs 1.7 crore from his car near Shambhuganj locality in Baksha police station area in Jaunpur district on late Wednesday night. According to the trader, the bag contained jewellery worth Rs 1.7 crore. Local residents rushed to the spot on hearing the gun shot and informed the police.The police took the injured trader to the district hospital for treatment. Jaunpur SP Dinesh Pal Singh also went to the spot and hospital to take first hand account of the incident. Two motorcycle-borne miscreants, who were following him from Jaunpur, hit his car from backside when he was crossing through Shambhuganj area.When he stopped the car, the miscreants opened fire at him, took out the bag of jewellery from the car and sped away..
