Vizag railway station vendor fined 2000 for overcharging

VISAKHAPATNAM: Displaying quick response and zero tolerance for strong-arm tactic , the railway police fined an owner of an eatery 2,000 for overcharging a railway passenger S Satyanarayana, who was on his way to Bhubaneswar from Tirupati, had alighted at the city station for breakfast. After eating at a small eatery on island platform number 4 and 5 he was shocked to see the bill.According to the complainant, the vendor sold two idlis and a vada for 30, which was much higher than the price mentioned in the menu.Satyanarayana, then immediately lodged a Whatsapp complaint with Waltair divisional railway manager MS Mathur, who in turn directed his staff to look into the issue.Confirming this to TOI, Mathur said that they received a complaint from a passenger named S Satyanarayana regarding being overcharged and mis-behaved with by the owner of M/S Mittal Hotels and Pvt Ltd on the island platform number 4 and 5.When the passenger had asked the reason for being overcharged, the owner had started an argument with him, Mathur added.The railway police immediately swung into action and investigated the issue and then imposed a fine of 2,000 on the owner of the eatery..
