Saina Nehwal who went into the Championships as the underdog, also bagged the Bronze medal. She was also defeated by Nozomi Okuhara in the semi-final, nonetheless she has comeback strong from injury and proved that she is still is a force to reckon with. Before the event, everyone had written Nehwal off and were not expecting a medal from her.
BAI has decided to award PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal with Rs 10 lakh and Rs 5 lakh respectively.
