Team India has been completely dominating Sri Lanka in the recent test series as well as in ODIs now. Recently, India also managed to reach the final of the Champions Trophy as well as defeat Windies in an ODI series that too in West Indies.

In the 1st ODI against Sri Lanka, the likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Kuldeep Yadav could not find a place in the playing XI, even though some of the key members of the side have been rested for this series. This goes to show how difficult it is to find a place in the Indian team now. It is a good news as healthy competition always helps build a better team and the performance only improves.

Someone like Kuldeep Yadav , who has been in good form of late is not able to secure his place. This means that there will be pressure to perform on a regular basis. Even Shikhar Dhawan recently said that he wants to perform well in every match and that the opening spot is flexible since so many talented players are vying to make it to the team.

Rotating these players over a period of time is the way forward in order to make the best team ready for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
