Ind vs Eng, 1st ODI: Kuldeep Yadav-Rohit Sharma take India to victory

Cricket | Friday | 13th July, 2018

Kuldeep Yadav’s mesmerizing bowling skills and Rohit Sharma's spectacular century saw India’s eight-wicket victory in the first ODI against England.

Kuldeep's career-best figures of 6 for 25 restricted England to a modest total of 268 on good batting conditions. While on the other hand Rohit scored 137 off 114 balls. It was the opener's 18th ODI hundred and was beautifully complemented by skipper Virat Kohli's 75 off 82 balls, as he struck his first 50 plus score of the tour. The Kohli-Rohit duo added 177 runs in 25.1 overs to seal the game.

Once Kohli opted to field, the English wickets batsmen repeated the same kind of history like the T20 series, where things went downhill.

None of England's batsmen were able to read Kuldeep Yadav and a testimony to that was his brilliant figures of 10-0-25-6, the best ever by any chinaman bowler in the history of ODIs.

Thanks to Kuldeep's magical spell there wasn't much pressure on the Indian batting line-up unlike the last ODI series, where England trampled Australia under a mountain of runs.

Kohli on his part hit eight boundaries and was ready to play second fiddle during his 47th half century in ODI cricket.
