IND vs WI: Virat Kohli on verge of breaking several ODI records

Virat Kohli lead Indian team began its West Indies tour on a  good note as it clinched T-20 series by winning all the three matches. India will now play  ODI series against West Indies from Aug 8 and Virat Kohli will be the key person who is on the verge of breaking several records.

The Indian skipper already owns the title of most number of runs scored in India-West Indies ODIs by scoring  1912 runs from 33 matches at an average of 70.81. He also has scored the maximum number of hundreds -- 7 in India-West Indies ODIs.

Kohli has surpassed Sachin Tendulkar who finished with 1573 runs in India-West Indies ODIs from 39 matches. While West Indies's Desmond Haynes occupies the third spot in the list with 1357 runs from 36 matches.

As India begins its ODI campaign from Thursday Virat Kohli would also look to break another record, the record of most number of runs scored by a batsman in India-West Indies ODIs in West Indies. Kohli will be looking to break Ramnaresh Sarwan's record who scored 700 runs from 17 matches. Kohli with 556 runs from 12 matches is just 144 runs behind Sarwan.

But Virat Kohli needs to look closely at Chris Gayle who is third on this list with 512 runs and has chance to overtake both Virat Kohli and Sarwan.

With 2 hundred each Indian captain Virat Kohli and Desmond Haynes level each other in the most number of hundreds in India-West Indies in West Indies. Virat Kohli has the maximum chances to cross Haynes record for the most number of hundreds in India-West Indies in West Indies during this series.

After winning the T-20 series, India is scheduled to play three ODI matches on August 8,11 and 14. And after  the ODIs, both the teams will play two  test matches at  Sir Vivian Richards Stadium  on Aug 22 and Sabina Park, Jamaica on Aug 30.
