Confusion continues after Sourav Ganguly announces cancellation of Asia Cup 2020

A statement from BCCI president Sourav Ganguly which could have ended months of speculation over the fate of Asia cup 2020 has instead ignited more confusion.

On Wednesday, Ganguly said that the tournament has been canceled during an Instagram chat with journalist Vikrant Gupta.

“Asia Cup cancel ho chuka hai, joh September me tha (Asia Cup, which was to be held in September, has been cancelled),” Ganguly said.

However, confusion over the fate of Asia cup lies because there has been no official statement from Asian Cricket Council yet. Also, Pakistan who was supposed to host the cup this year has refused to back Ganguly's statement.

"We are still waiting for the ACC to come back to us,” said PCB Chief Ehsan Mani.

"They are making inquiries about certain (things). Maybe, Sourav knows something that I don’t know. That’s possible. But we have not heard anything from the ACC, so I can’t comment on that."

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had made it clear that the window which suits the PCB, who was supposed to host the tournament, doesn't suit the Indian board.
