Major Upset as Bangladesh defeat Australia in the 1st test

Cricket | Wednesday | 30th August, 2017

Bangladesh pulled of a major upset as they spun their way to a first ever test victory against Australia at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday. Shakib Al Hasan turned out to be the star performer as he picked up his second five-wicket haul in the match to help his side register a historic 20 –run win against Australia.

David Warner played a magnificient 112 run knock but it went in vain as the batting collapsed after his dismissal. Pat Cummins did try his best in the end but the Bangladesh spinners proved too good for the Australian talenders in the end. Australia will now look to comeback and draw the two match series in the second test match at Chittagong before they head to India for an ODI and T20 series.

Overall, it was an exciting contest, which was dominated by spinners and also proved that test cricket is not dead yet and provide as much entertainment as the shorter formats.
