The Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament 2020 will be played from September 19 to November 10, confirmed by IPL’s governing council on Sunday after its meeting.

IPL governing council has decided that Chinese sponsors will also be retained for this year’s tournament. One of the biggest sponsor of the tournament is Chinese mobile company Vivo. The decision to continue Chinese Sponsors came in the midst of India-China tension, when the demand of boycotting Chinese products is being echoed all over the country.

As declared earlier, the tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The matches will be played in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, subject to necessary clearances from the Government of India. The 53-day tournament will have 10 afternoon matches, starting at 15:30 IST and the evening matches will start at 19:30 IST.

“We expect the Home and External Affairs Ministry to give us necessary approvals within another week. The final will be played on November 10 as it enters the Diwali week making it lucrative for the broadcasters,” the IPL GC member said.
