IPL 2020: Mustafizur denied NOC, won’t be playing IPL this year

Bangladeshi pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman has been denied a No-Objection Certificate to participate in IPL2020 this year. The reason for this (as said by the Bangladesh Cricket Board) is said out to be his responsibilities towards his nation.

This year Mustafizur was supposedly to play from the team of Mumbai Indians or Kolkata Knight Riders (since both the teams had a requirement of a pace bowler). Presently, Mumbai Indians have found James Pattinson to be a replacement for Lasith Malinga. However, KKR is still looking for a replacement for Harry Gurney.

In a recent interview, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s chairman, Akram Khan said,” Yes, he [Mustafizur] had an offer from the IPL but we did not give him NOC as we have the Sri Lanka tour coming up,”

If we take a look at the statistics, we find out that Mustafizur’s performance in the Indian Premier League has been rather underwhelming. He scored only one wicked in three games and leaked out a RR of 9.51. Moreover, in his IPL career, he has been on the field for 24 games and 24 wickets with an average of 28.54.

The major reason for the denial of Mustafizur’s NOC still stands to be Banga=ladesh’s upcoming tour of SriLanka i.e., to begin on September 21.
