On Monday, one of the finest teams of IPL, Chennai Super Kings shared a video where the captain cool was seen keeping wickets as part of his training drill. Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan believes that his absence from cricket in over a year could be the reason for it.

While having a conversation with Star Sports, Pathan said that the new visual where MS Dhoni was seen keeping the wickets, is something new for him. “This never happens.” He added that he had played cricket for so many years with him, whether it is for the Indian team or in the league with CSK, but he never saw him keeping wickets.

Citing the reason for the same Irfan said that this might be because he has not played cricket for a long time. He believes that there must have been some leg-spinner bowling, so Mahi would have been trying to check the new bowlers but it was good for him to see Dhoni doing keeping during practice.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni had played cricket for the last time in July last year in the World Cup semifinal that was against New Zealand. Unfortunately, it had ended in a heartbreak for Team India led by Virat Kohli. After announcing his retirement from international cricket on the 15th of August, Dhoni is all set to get back playing for his IPL team CSK. Dhoni has a lot of responsibilities to handle as the opening game is scheduled between CSK and MI on September 19.

Pathan believes that after the exit of two experienced players Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh. Pathan, these good practice session visuals were expected and he considers it to be good news that CSK’s practice has started. “It is not a surprise that fans have reached there to see MS Dhoni. This has is happening for so many years and it is not a shock that it is happening now also. COVID is there but still, fans have reached there to watch MS Dhoni,” he added.
