Judge Hamid Hussain was hearing a petition filed by a woman, Hamiza Mukhtar who claimed she had been receiving "threatening messages" from different mobile numbers on WhatsApp from unidentifiable people. They also used to "threaten and blackmail her that they have her objectionable pictures and videos and will upload (them) on social media to harm her repute in society and ruin her life."

On Investigation, the FIA found one of the numbers to be registered on Azam's name; he was summoned to appear before the agency, but he didn't. FIA concluded that Babar Azam not appearing for hearing indicated something amiss in their report.

The charges include Azam and two others. The current complaint is linked to last year when Hamiza filed complaints of harassment and sexual abuse on the pretext of marriage against Babar, but the case was never registered.

Azam's family, however, denied receiving any such FIA summons. The PCB is acting as a mute spectator.
