IPL 2021: Afridi Criticises South African Players For Choosing IPL Over Pak Series

Cricket | Thursday | 8th April, 2021

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi often remains in the discussion due to his controversial statements; the legend has expressed his anger over IPL now. Afridi alleges that international cricket is being affected by the IPL. Afridi made this statement after the end of the ODI series between Pakistan and South Africa. "Surprising to see @OfficialCSA allowing players to travel for IPL in the middle of a series. It is sad to see T20 leagues influencing international cricket. Some rethinking needs to be done!!" Afridi tweeted.

The third match of the three-match ODI series was played between Pakistan and South Africa on Wednesday. The third match did not include players including Kagiso Rabada, Quinton de Kock, Anrich Nortje, David Miller and Lungi Ngidi who left the South African squad to participate in the 14th season of the Indian Premier League. After playing the first two ODIs, all these players left for India so that they can be available for selection from 9 April.
