Australian cricketers participating in the IPL will leave for the Maldives by chartered plane, where they will wait for the Australian border to open. An official provided this information on Wednesday. Australia has imposed a travel ban from India till May 15 as the country is battling the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Australia's 38-member squad includes players, coaches, umpires, commentators who will now wait in the Maldives. "All Australians have started mobilizing in Delhi from today and will be flying to the Maldives by chartered planes," said a KKR team official. Chennai Super Kings batting coach Michael Hussey, who has been found Covid-19 positive, will have to stay in India. Cricketer-turned-commentator Michael Slater has already reached the Maldives.

IPL organizers postponed the league indefinitely on Tuesday after four Indian players were found positive for Covid-19. Eight of the 11 England players who played in the IPL reached their home country on Wednesday, while Australian cricketers would go through the Maldives. England's Johnny Bairstow, Jose Butler, Sam Curren, Tom Curren, Sam Billings, Chris Woakes, Moin Ali and Jason Roy have arrived in London and will be staying under quarantine at the hotel for ten days.
