Chennai Super Kings' batting coach Mike Hussey was infected with Covid-19 during IPL 2021 but now he has returned to Australia after fully recovering. Hussey travelled from India to Australia via Qatar where he will be under home quarantine in Sydney for 14 days. Mike Hussey shared his experience of being in the bio bubble during IPL 2021, he said that all the people were exposed to the risk of Covid-19 while going from Mumbai to Delhi. Hussey said that when the tournament reached Delhi from Mumbai, he started feeling ill; although, initially his test came negative.
Mike Hussey told Fox Sports, My initial test came up as a weak positive, and we were sort of hoping the next would be negative and it’d be alright, but unfortunately, I got retested the next day and that came back positive,” he said.
“To be honest, I had already started feeling some of the symptoms and so I was thinking, ‘I’m pretty sure I’ve got it’.
“Plus I was sitting next to the bowling coach on the bus a few times, so I thought, ‘If he’s got it then there’s a pretty good chance I’ve got it as well.”
"There was a risk there. It (also) could have been at the ground; there was ground staff while we were there training and on game day. There was certainly more risk once we left that Mumbai bubble," he added.
Hussey and Balaji were airlifted from Delhi to Chennai in an air ambulance for further treatment. They both recovered from the virus last week and reached home safely on Monday.
Mike Hussey admitted that he was feeling safe in Mumbai's bio bubble. But when he shifted to Delhi, he and the others felt that airport security, baggage and pilots were not part of the bio bubble, due to this, everyone got exposed.
