The women's teams of India and England will start the singleTest match at Bristol ground shortly; meanwhile, England Cricket Board(ECB) has issued an apology for using an old pitch for the test match.

The Indian team is returning to Test cricket after a long gap of 7 years from this Test match; the last time the Indian women's team played a Test match was in 2014.

The ECB apologized for this mistake and said, 'We are all disappointed that 37 overs were played on the wicket for the Test match against India. We know England women deserve a new wicket and we regret that we were unable to provide it in this instance.

The T20 Blast match between Gloucestershire and Sussex was played on this pitch five days ago.

England women's cricket team captain Heather Knight has said that it is not right to play on a used pitch.

She further said, 'I have seen the pitch, it is a used wicket. This pitch was used for the Gloucestershire T20 match last week, which I think is by no means the ideal pitch for a Test match. We wanted that we would get to play fresh pitches. Now I don't know how the pitch I got will behave.

Indian women's team captain Mithali Raj preferred to remain silent on this matter. She said that we have come here to play a match. Whatever strip we get, we try and get the result; this is our idea. Whether it is a used wicket or a fresh wicket.. as players, and as a captain, I definitely want my team to get a result and for that, we must plan and Create. our strategy accordingly.
