Former captain Younis Khan on Tuesday resigned as Pakistan's batting coach. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Tuesday that the board and Younis decided this by mutual consent and it has accepted his decision "reluctantly but amicably".

Younis was made the batting coach of the Pakistan team in November last year and his tenure was till 2022 which was to end after the T20 World Cup.

The Pakistan team is going to tour England from June 25 to July 20 for three ODIs and three T20 Internationals. Later, the Pakistani team will next go to the West Indies from July 21 to August 24 and play five T20 Internationals and two Test matches. Two days before the team's departure, the Pakistan Cricket Board issued a statement, "The Pakistan men's national cricket team will travel to the United Kingdom without a batting coach, while the decision to appoint Younis Khan's replacement for the West Indies tour will be taken in due course.

The announcement sparked speculation that Younis himself had decided to step down as he was not happy with his role with the team and wanted more interference in selection matters. According to a source, Younis was not satisfied with the way the national team is being prepared for the future.

Younis still remains Pakistan's top Test run-scorer with over 10,000 runs.
