The ICC T20 World Cup 2021 has been shifted to UAE and Oman. The International Cricket Council (ICC) made its official announcement on Tuesday. The tournament will be played from October 17 to November 14.

According to the original schedule, this competition was to be held in India last year, but it was postponed due to the outbreak of Covid-19.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be its host. It will be held at four grounds – Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Sharjah Stadium and Oman Cricket Academy Ground.

A day earlier, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that, "BCCI is looking forward to hosting the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in UAE and Oman. We would have been happier if it was in India, but given the condition of Covid-19, this decision has been taken. BCCI will continue to host this tournament in UAE and Oman. BCCI is fully prepared for it".

There will be eight qualifying teams in the first round of the tournament. These will be divided between Oman and UAE. Four of these teams will be part of the Super 12s where they will play against the eight teams that have already qualified.
