The Sri Lanka Cricket Board is considering playing a second-string team against India not because India has sent a second-rate team there but because the Sri Lankan players have started a rebellion against the board, while three players have also been banned, who broke the team's bio-bubble on the tour of England.

According to the report, “If the Sri Lankan players do not sign the central contract after returning from England, the selectors can choose the B-team for the ODI series against India. " According to the news published in the Sri Lankan newspaper Daily FT, "Sri Lankan Cricket Selection Committee chairman Pramodaya Wickramasinghe has said that if the players do not seal the contract before the series against India, they will have no other option apart from choosing another team. The board will be then forced to make a team out of his 39 players who have signed the contract and are not a part of the Sri Lankan team currently on the tour of England.

Wickramasinghe said, “These players are currently practicing and playing matches. We can consider their selection for the series against India. We have not selected the team yet. We will do this after the third and last ODI against England on Sunday."
